Variety description

The variety has been known since the 17th century and belongs to rare local varieties. Biotypes include Recantina a pecolo rosso, Recantina a pecolo scuro and Recantina Forner. Vines have high growth vigor and are traditionally trained using the Guyot system.

Leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, pentagonal in shape, and clusters are compact. Berries are medium-sized, round, and covered with a thick waxy skin of a dark blue, almost black color.

Wine products have a deep ruby-red color with purple hues. The flavor profile of the wines is characterized by structure, pronounced acidity, balanced tannins, and aromas of black berries, cherry, violets, and spices.
