The variety is an interspecific hybrid obtained in 1989 by crossing the variety Alphonse Lavallée and a descendant of Muscadinia rotundifolia. The vine is characterized by vigorous growth and productivity, with shoot growth habit ranging from semi-upright to upright.
Bunches are medium-sized, moderately dense, with medium to large berries having moderately thick skin and simple pulp flavor. The juice is characterized by high sugar content but is prone to developing oxidative notes during processing.
The variety possesses resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, but requires minimal fungicidal protection. Sensitivity to Phomopsis, grape leafhopper, and blister mite is noted, as well as susceptibility to flower/berry drop and poor fruit set.
