Tămâioasă Românească is a traditional technical variety with a cultivation history spanning over 2000 years. In the Cotnari wine region, the variety is grown at altitudes of 200–300 meters on chernozem and gray forest-steppe soils.

The grapes are used to create dry, semi-sweet, and sweet wines with high sugar content. In modern agricultural practice in the Cotnari region, a low planting density of about 3646 plants per hectare is practiced, with yields limited to no more than 6 tons per hectare.
