Variety description

10 August 2026

The Tardana variety, also known as Planta Nova or Tortozón, is native to the eastern regions of Spain. The name comes from the Spanish word "tarde", which reflects its extremely late ripening period, allowing the harvest to take place until December.

The plant possesses hardiness and adaptability to the Mediterranean climate. The bunches are medium, cylindrical, with dense berries having a thick skin. The variety is resistant to high temperatures and diseases, retaining natural acidity even during prolonged ripening.

Winemaking properties are characterized by good structure and aromatics with notes of white fruits, flowers, and mineral undertones. Due to the thick skin, the variety is suitable for the production of orange wines with maceration.
