Chrysanthemum x morifolium Ramat.

The primary method of propagating garden chrysanthemum, ensuring the preservation of varietal characteristics and a high multiplication rate. The method is based on the crop's high natural rhizogenesis capacity when using herbaceous terminal shoots.

For propagation, only green terminal shoots 5–12 cm long are used, cut just below an internode. A mandatory preparation step is the removal of buds and lower leaves. The best rooting results are shown by cuttings taken from mother plants kept at a temperature of 15–18°C with supplementary lighting.

The efficiency of rhizogenesis is determined by the plant's genotype: small-flowered varieties root faster than large-flowered ones. The crop is characterized by a high multiplication rate, allowing for the production of up to 15 plantlets from a single mother plant. The use of vermiculite as a substrate and the application of auxin-based growth regulators significantly improve the quality of the root system.
