Diseases
Triticum aestivum L.
A disease caused by the fungus Cladosporium herbarum, known as black head mold. The pathogen primarily affects dying or weakened plant tissues, manifesting as an olive-colored moldy growth on spikes and stems under high humidity conditions.
In the reference 15 varieties crop Bread wheat, where this is mentioned in the description.
On soft wheat, Cladosporium herbarum is not a specialized obligate parasite, unlike similar species on other crops. The fungus develops primarily as a saprotroph on damaged plant organs; however, under high humidity and in the presence of weakened tissues, intensive mycelial growth can appear on vegetative parts.
In scientific literature, there is no data on specific races of Cladosporium herbarum or resistance genes of wheat to this pathogen. Cultivar resistance to infection is complex and determined by the morphological characteristics of the spike and the overall condition of the plants, rather than by specific genetic defense factors.
