Due to these characteristics, the crop exhibits exceptional resistance to mechanical stress from livestock grazing, making it one of the best plants for establishing intensive pastures.

Kentucky bluegrass forage is characterized by high nutritional value and good palatability for cattle. The plant is noted for its early start to the growing season and rapid regrowth after grazing or mowing. With sufficient soil fertility and moisture, the crops can persist in swards for over 15 years; however, due to slow growth in the first year, it is recommended to include them in seed mixtures.
