The resulting 1000-kernel weight varies from 22 to 46 g; agronomically, values of at least 40 g for winter wheat and 38 g for spring wheat are considered significant for sowing.

A high 1000-kernel weight provides a greater supply of nutrients, which promotes the development of a vigorous root system and seedlings. This indicator is essential for calculating the weight-based seeding rate and serves as an indicator of environmental stress during the growing season, such as drought or disease, which reduce grain plumpness.
