According to variety testing protocols, the height of a Diascia plant is measured from the substrate surface to the highest point of the plant. Based on this trait, three groups are distinguished: low-growing groundcover forms (15–25 cm), medium-sized compact forms (20–45 cm), and tall vertical forms reaching 0.5–1 m.

Low-growing varieties are used as groundcover plants or in hanging containers, whereas vertical forms are used as accent components in compositions. For trailing varieties, plant height is dynamic: as they grow, the shoots trail, which requires habit adjustment through pinching or pruning at a level of 6 cm from the soil surface to stimulate re-blooming.
