The Penn G series variety, bred for the golf industry, is characterized by an upright growth habit and high sod density. The plants are adapted to intensive maintenance conditions and the maintenance of a mowing height in the range of 3–8 mm.
The variety possesses good resistance to dollar spot, however, it may show sensitivity to salt stress and have delayed spring regrowth. Cases of infection by bacterial pathogens of the species Acidovorax have been recorded, which requires special attention during agronomic maintenance.
