The variety originates from the Tuscany region, Arezzo province. Its cultivation has been historically limited to the municipalities of the Valtiberina valley, including Sansepolcro, Anghiari, and others. The plant is included in registries as a genetic resource of cultural value.
The bulb has a round shape, slightly flattened at the poles. The outer scales are red, the inner ones have a reddish hue, and the flesh remains white. The taste is characterized as sweet with an intense aroma and the presence of slight pungency.
