The variety belongs to winter garlic types and in the European classification is included in the third group of varieties along with Rougeâtre de Vendée and Blanc de la Drôme. The plant is characterized by a white color of the outer bulb scales and the formation of outer cloves.
The variety is traditional for the Beaumont-de-Lomagne region in France and is a product of folk selection. Like many varieties of this crop, it shows susceptibility to major diseases and pests, including rust, downy mildew, white rot, leek moth, and onion fly.
