The variety belongs to the group Brassica oleracea L. var. sabellica L. It is used in UPOV guidelines as an example for describing the morphological characteristics of kale, in particular, for determining the position of the growing point of the plant.

The leaves of this variety lack anthocyanin coloration. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including yield indicators, disease resistance, or maturity dates, are not presented in open publications.
