The variety is a local landrace originating from the province of Cuneo and grown in the Tanaro, Mongia, and Cevetta valleys. The plant belongs to the category of historical agricultural heritage and is preserved in its places of natural growth.

The fruits of this variety are characterized by late ripening dates, which occur in the period from October 15 to 25. The harvest is traditionally used for fresh consumption, drying, or processing into chestnut flour.
