The variety is very early; fruits enter the market in early September. The fruits are of medium size and have a regular spherical shape. The pericarp is dark brown with inconspicuous stripes. The flesh is milky white, firm, and has a sweet taste.

The variety is the result of folk selection in the Campania region. The fruits are used as a table product for fresh consumption, as well as for processing. The variety is included in the list of protected geographical indications Castagna di Roccamonfina.
