Genetic studies confirm that Tosca is part of the local genetic diversity of the European chestnut. This name does not have the status of an officially registered variety with described agronomic characteristics, such as height, disease resistance, or specific economic traits.

As a representative of the Castanea sativa species, plants of this population prefer a temperate climate, well-drained acidic soils, and growth on moist mountain slopes. The name is also encountered in the context of other agricultural crops, in particular, as a pear variety.
