The Tricciuda variety is a traditional local chestnut variety common in Corsica. The fruits have a short-elliptical shape and are medium to large in size. The variety is distinguished by its high adaptability to mechanical peeling and is primarily intended for industrial use.
The tree is male-sterile and does not produce pollen, therefore it cannot act as a pollinator for other varieties. Tricciuda is among the three most common and dominant chestnut varieties in its region.
