The VENTURA variety is a clonal selection traditionally distributed in the northwestern regions of Spain, particularly in Galicia. The fruits of the variety are valued for their taste qualities and ease of peeling, and are suitable for the production of glazed chestnuts.
Biochemical studies confirm a high content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids in the fruits. The harvest period in Galicia occurs from late October to early November. The variety is grown as a fruit crop and is included in genetic diversity conservation programs.
