The plant forms a voluminous upright rosette-head. The leaves are long, narrow, dark green with a pronounced white central vein. The primary value lies in the internal shoots that form in the core of the head: they have an elongated shape, a crunchy texture, and a white color with a greenish tint.
The variety is hardy, exhibits tolerance to low temperatures, but does not withstand prolonged frosts. The optimal temperature range for development is 15–20°C. The taste of the shoots is sweetish with a characteristic slight bitterness, the intensity of which increases as they grow.
In Italian conditions, seeds are sown in summer, from July to August, and harvesting is carried out from November to January. When planting in open field, it is recommended to maintain a distance of 25–30 cm between plants in a row and 40–45 cm between rows. Both the shoots and the leaves, which usually require thermal processing, are consumed.
