The variety originated from a spontaneous mutation and was selected in the municipality of Araruama, Brazil. The name "Folha Murcha" means "wilted leaf" and is due to a genetic trait of the leaf shape, which appears slightly twisted or curled downward regardless of irrigation conditions.

The tree reaches a height of 4 to 7 meters, has a rounded shape and a dense canopy. The fruits are round or slightly flattened, juicy, highly sweet, and have a thin peel. The variety is late-maturing, and the fruits remain on the tree for a long time.

The plant exhibits tolerance to citrus canker and a relatively low incidence of citrus huanglongbing (HLB). It is an important crop in commercial citrus production and is often grown using "Cravo" lemon rootstock.
