The variety is of Spanish origin and is also grown in Morocco and Algeria. The tree is characterized as slow-growing, compact, medium or small in size with dense foliage.
Fruits ripen late, are harvested in summer, and retain their quality on the tree for a long time. They are oval or ellipsoid in shape, medium or small in size, with juicy, sweet pulp and a firm peel prone to regreening after reaching maturity.
It is used for fresh consumption and juice production. In a number of regions, the variety is considered a local historical variety (landrace).
