The Tipul A rootstock, also known as Cydonia oblonga 'East Malling' or gutui A, is a breeding form of quince intended for pear grafting. Its use allows for a significant reduction in scion vigor, resulting in trees reaching 40–60% of standard height, measuring approximately 4–5 meters in adulthood.
This rootstock promotes precocity: pears grafted onto it begin to fruit in the 3–4th year after planting. The culture is characterized by good tolerance to short-term soil waterlogging, which makes it sought after in intensive and super-intensive pear orchards.
