The variety was created through a breeding process from local Slovenian populations, such as Črna gorenjska ajda and Siva dolenjska ajda, using crosses with Russian buckwheat varieties. The variety name translates as "early," which indicates its belonging to the early-maturing crop group.

Plants are characterized by a pronounced ability to form side shoots. The variety is an important genetic resource, widely used in scientific research to study genetic variability, polyphenol content, and seed viability.

Genetic analysis using SSR markers confirms that this variety is clearly distinct from other varieties of common buckwheat. The variety is included in the national gene bank of Slovenia.
