The variety is hexaploid and belongs to the mid-early maturity group. The plant has a medium growth habit, and the flag leaf length ranges from short to medium. Leaf blades are dark green, and the overall turf texture is rated as medium in terms of fineness.
The variety is intended for use in seed mixtures applied for creating wear-resistant sports turf and in park landscaping. The name "Tuff" is also frequently found in the commercial names of lawn mixtures, which may include various tall fescue varieties and other grass species.
