The variety is an intergeneric hybrid created by the polycross method from four clonally propagated genotypes. The pedigree includes forms of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis) and several ryegrass varieties. The initial breeding material was collected in 1996.
During the breeding process, plants with an optimal number of tillers and disease resistance were selected. The AR1 endophyte, present in some of the initial genotypes, was included in the variety. The crop is intended for use in pastures and grass mixtures, combining the rapid development and forage quality of ryegrass with the stress tolerance of meadow fescue.
