The variety is the result of breeding late-maturing plants from hybrid material obtained while working with the variety Perun. The plant forms a semi-erect bush with a high degree of tillering and a height during heading of 90 to 125 cm. The heading dates are 4–5 days later than those of the Paulita and Perun varieties.

Perseus possesses good resistance to lodging and Fusarium. Due to the genetic contribution of meadow fescue, the variety surpasses Italian ryegrass in its level of winter hardiness and drought tolerance. At the same time, it maintains high productivity for 2–3 years of use and responds well to nitrogen fertilizer application.

The produce is characterized by high nutritional value, an increased concentration of energy, and a significant content of water-soluble sugars. The variety is suitable for cultivation both as a pure crop and as part of grass mixtures, including those with clover.
