The plant is an evergreen perennial forming dense clumps 50–75 cm tall. Leaves are leathery, silvery-gray in shade with prominent green veins and prickly-serrated margins. Large cup-shaped apple-green or yellow-green flowers are gathered into inflorescences.

Flowering occurs from late winter to spring depending on the region. The plant belongs to USDA hardiness zone 5, tolerating frosts down to -28...-29°C. It prefers moist, well-drained soils with an alkaline reaction and is resistant to deer damage.

The variety is used in landscape design for shaded and partially shaded areas, woodland gardens, and mixed borders, maintaining foliage ornamental value throughout the entire season.
