The plant reaches 2.4–3.6 meters in height and 1.8–3 meters in width and can be trained as a small tree. The foliage is medium green, three-lobed, palmately divided and coarsely serrated. The flowers are large, showy, and have a contrasting center.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness, corresponding to USDA zones 5a–8b, and withstands temperature drops down to -29°C. The plant is drought and salt tolerant, able to grow both in sun and partial shade, and prefers well-drained soils.
