The plant reaches 3 meters in height with a width of about 1.5 meters. The shrub is well-branched, has stiff upright shoots and leaves that are wider than those of the basic forms of the species.

Flowers with a diameter of up to 10 cm have a purple-magenta shade and petaloid stamens forming a "double heart". Flowering occurs on current-year shoots from July to October, while the variety forms a small number of fruits.

The plant withstands temperature drops down to -20°C and adapts to dry and calcareous soils. The variety is intended for ornamental gardening, including the creation of hedges and container cultivation.
