The shrub is characterized by an upright or slightly spreading crown shape with a height of 0.5 to 1.5 m and a width of 0.8–1.2 m. The leaves are lanceolate or elliptical with a serrated edge, dark green, with a bronze or reddish-purple tint, turning brick-red in autumn.
The inflorescences are flat or slightly convex corymbs with a diameter of 6–10 cm, consisting of small fertile flowers in the center and larger sterile ones at the edges. Flowering occurs from June to August on current-year shoots. Flower color changes from whitish-pink at opening to red, with the shade depending on the soil acidity level.
The variety has moderate winter hardiness (USDA zone 6) and requires protection in cold climates. The plant is highly susceptible to powdery mildew and is demanding regarding soil moisture and irrigation quality. It is used in single and group plantings, mixed borders, and container gardening.
