The compact deciduous shrub has a spreading, hemispherical or spherical shape. The height of an adult plant varies from 0.5 to 1 meter. Dark green shiny leaves acquire a reddish hue in autumn.
Lacecap-type inflorescences consist of small fertile and larger sterile double flowers formed on current-year shoots. In acidic soil, the flowers acquire a blue hue, and in neutral soil — pink.
The variety is slow-growing and blooms from July to September. The plant has frost resistance down to -20°C and requires planting in fertile, moderately moist soils in lightly shaded areas protected from the wind.
