The tree is characterized by moderate growth, reaching 6–8 meters in height, with a spherical-flattened semi-open crown. The variety is demanding in terms of growing conditions, prone to scab, powdery mildew, bacterial canker, and collar rot, and is moderately wind-resistant.
The fruits are of medium size and have a round or slightly flattened shape, yellow-green or golden-yellow color with an orange-red blush and carmine streaks. The flesh is yellowish-white, fine-grained, and juicy. Harvesting is carried out from mid-September to early October; the storage period is limited to the beginning of winter.
The variety is intended primarily for fresh consumption, as well as for the production of juices and cider. It is the parent of many modern varieties and has a number of clonal mutations, such as Queen Cox, King Cox, Cherry Cox and Crimson Cox.
