The variety is a mutation of the classic English variety Cox's Orange Pippin. The fruit is characterized by a dark red color with the presence of stripes or veining.
Ripening periods depend on the climate: in the conditions of northern France, harvesting occurs in early October, while in experimental orchards in Spain, the start of ripening is noted from mid-August, with a tendency for the fruit to drop. The variety is of interest to collectors of heirloom varieties.
