The Doppelter Neuhäuser variety is an old local variety traditionally used for processing into juice or as a raw material for making thick fruit concentrates. It became widespread in the Solingen and Leichlingen regions.

The plant is characterized by high and regular yields, as well as good overall disease resistance. Flowering occurs in mid-early periods; the variety is presumably triploid and cannot act as a pollinator for other apple varieties.
