The variety is a dessert apple tree whose fruits are characterized as crisp and juicy, with a pleasant sweet taste. In addition to fresh consumption, apples of this variety can be used in the production of cider as a blending component.

The tree of this variety is a rare local species of the county of Surrey and is officially preserved in the National Fruit Collection of the United Kingdom under registration number 1957-183.
