The variety originates from the Caldueño region, Asturias, and is classified as an industrial variety for cider production. The fruits ripen in the second ten-day period of November. The tree is characterized by late flowering, and yield is assessed as medium to quite high.

The chemical composition of the fruits is characterized by a total acidity of 8.51 g/l expressed as H₂SO₄ and a total phenol content of 0.93 g/l expressed as tannic acid. Sensitivity to fungal diseases varies from low to increased.
