The variety Jonica is officially recognized as a synonym for the apple variety Jonagored. In the Hungarian national variety registers, it appears as a registered entity, however, detailed morphological and agrotechnical characteristics are not distinguished separately for this name.

Given that Jonica is considered part of the Jonagored variety type, a detailed description of the plant's properties should be correlated with the characteristics of the latter.
