The variety belongs to the dessert apple group and is a clone of the Jonagold variety. It retains the basic characteristics of the parent variety, such as taste, flesh texture, and ripening time. The main difference lies in the improved market appearance of the fruit due to more saturated coloration.

In agronomic literature, Jored is classified as one of the numerous Jonagold clones. Disease resistance of this variety corresponds to average indicators for the entire Jonagold group and depends on growing conditions.
