The Koldemosegaard variety originated as a result of accidental cross-pollination, and its name is associated with a locality in the area of the city of Sorø in Denmark. Genetically, the variety is diploid with an S-locus allele set of S2, S3.

The variety is rare and poorly studied. In publications from the first half of the 20th century, it was mentioned in historical reviews of fruit crop diseases, however, detailed agrotechnical characteristics of the tree and fruits are absent in available sources.
