Trees grafted onto this rootstock reach a height of 1.2–1.8 meters and are characterized by early onset of fruiting, usually in the 2–3 year. Due to its extremely weak vigor, the rootstock requires fertile soils, regular irrigation, and careful maintenance, as it cannot tolerate competition from weeds.

The root system of the rootstock is weak and brittle, which requires plants to have constant support throughout their entire life. The rootstock is characterized by sensitivity to fire blight, while it is resistant to certain types of collar rot.
