The variety is a chance seedling discovered around 1850 on the island of Langeland in Denmark. The tree demonstrates vigorous growth at a young age. The variety is triploid and is characterized by high resistance to scab, powdery mildew, and apple canker.
The fruits ripen in late September — October. They are large in size, truncate-conical to flat-round in shape, and have a whitish-yellow skin that becomes pure yellow when ripe, with a possible pink blush. The fruit flesh is snow-white, tender, and juicy, with a sweet, spicy flavor.
