The variety is native to Italian regions such as Abruzzo and Tuscany and has been preserved through folk selection. The apples are harvested at the end of September; they possess good physico-chemical properties and are suitable for long-term storage under refrigerated conditions.

The fruits have an orange-yellow skin and sweet, aromatic flesh. Studies confirm the variety's high resistance to apple scab, where the leaves show either no symptoms or only minor signs of the disease.
