The variety is an old local representative of Malus domestica from the Asturias region, selected by farmers over many centuries. Currently, the apple tree is under protection and is being studied in the SERIDA germplasm bank to preserve genetic resources.

The fruits belong to the sweet technological group with an acidity of 3.08 g/l and a phenolic content of 1.13 g/l. The variety is characterized by very late flowering and harvesting in the third ten days of November, while its susceptibility to fungal diseases is assessed as medium or high.
