The variety is a historical mutation of the apple 'Schöner aus Boskoop'. The trees are characterized by vigorous growth and a tendency toward alternate bearing. Harvest maturity of the fruits occurs in October.

The fruits have a round, sometimes ribbed shape. The skin is matte, rough, with characteristic russeting, colored yellow-green with a solid red blush or stripes. The flesh is cream-colored, firm, juicy, with a distinct wine-acid taste.

The variety has a universal purpose and is highly valued in culinary use. Susceptibility to scab, fruit spotting, and core mold is noted. It requires sufficient soil moisture and protection from severe frosts.
