The tree is vigorous in early growth, becoming moderately vigorous later, forming a broad-spherical crown with upward-directed branches. The fruits are medium to large in size, with smooth skin. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy, and of medium density.

Harvest maturity of the fruits occurs in early to mid-October; consumption period lasts from December to March. The variety has low susceptibility to powdery mildew, although flowers are sensitive to frost. Used as a table variety and for processing.

The mutant form Roba, corresponding to the name Roter Erwin Baur, differs from the original variety by having an almost completely red skin, lower surface stickiness of the fruit, and improved aromatic properties.
