The Kazakh variety Rubīns is an autumn cultivar, distinguished by very large pink fruits with good taste. Disadvantages include low resistance to scab and a tendency for fruits to develop browning during storage. The Czech variety Rubin is a winter cultivar, has smaller striped fruits, possesses higher resistance to scab, and is grown primarily in warm European countries.
Trees of these varieties are prone to forming long, sparsely branched sections of branches with narrow crotch angles, which creates a risk of breakage under load. The crop requires careful pruning and crown formation. For research purposes, rootstocks such as M.9 and B.396 are used in cultivation.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
