The RUGGINE GROSSO variety, also known as Di Rùi or Ruggine grigia, is a local discovery found in the provinces of Pordenone and Udine. The age of the old mother trees exceeds 80 years.

The plant is distinguished by late flowering, which occurs in the second ten-day period of April. Harvesting and the onset of consumer ripeness of the fruits occur in the first ten-day period of September.

The fruits are small in size and possess good keeping quality, which allows them to be stored for a long time. The variety demonstrates good yield and is used for fresh consumption, as well as for preparing desserts and baking.
