The variety is a chance seedling, with the first references to it in the USA dating back to 1804. The tree has very vigorous growth. The fruits are of the winter type; harvesting takes place in early October, and the consumption period lasts from December to May.

The apples are very large, on average about 100 mm wide and 90 mm high, and have a round, often uneven shape with pronounced ribs. The skin is smooth, yellowish or greenish-yellow in color. The flesh is yellowish-white, juicy, with a sweet-and-sour taste; the texture can be coarse-grained and loose.

The fruits are used in cooking, as they hold their shape well during thermal processing. The variety is distinguished by high hardiness and is suitable for cultivation in high-altitude conditions.
