The variety is a chance seedling discovered in the Esslingen area. It belongs to winter varieties: harvest maturity occurs in October, consumer maturity from the end of October.

Fruits are small or medium-sized, have skin ranging from greenish-yellow to straw-yellow, which is covered with red stripes or a diffused blush upon full ripening. The taste of the fruits varies from sharp-acidic to fruity.

The variety is considered primarily a processing type intended for cider or juice production, less often used as a table apple. Resistance of the variety to diseases and pests is noted.
