The variety belongs to the rennet group. The tree is distinguished by vigorous, strong growth and forms a large, widely spreading crown, reaching a height of 4.5 meters or more. There is a mutation, 'Roter Boskoop', which differs by having a more intense red fruit coloration.

Harvesting begins from mid-October, and consumption maturity occurs from December to April. Fruits are large or very large, often over 200 g, with a round or slightly angular shape. The skin is dry, often rough, greenish-yellow in color, sometimes with an orange-red blush. The flesh is yellowish-white, firm, and juicy.

The variety is triploid and requires pollinator varieties. A tendency towards biennial bearing requires consideration during care. Trees need fertile, moist soils. The variety is relatively resistant to scab but can be susceptible to core rot and fire blight.

Due to high acidity, the fruits are especially suitable for culinary processing: preparing puree, baking, juices, and ciders. During thermal processing, the apples retain their shape well and are also used as 'baked apples'.
